Lennox Head Cultural Centre will be the venue for the screening of a powerful documentary of an Afghan family’s quest for freedom.
The screening will take place on Tuesday, June 18 at 7.30pm. Tickets are $25, via Humanitix and at the door. All proceeds go to Ballina Region For Refugees to help settle refugees in Australia.
The film, Midnight Traveler, charts the story of Afghan director Hassan Fazili after the Taliban puts a bounty on his head. He’s forced to flee Afghanistan with his wife and young daughters.
Capturing the family’s uncertain journey first-hand, Fazili documents their harrowing trek across numerous borders, revealing the danger and uncertainty facing refugees seeking asylum, juxtaposed with the unbreakable love shared amongst the family on the run.
