Our doughty sausage sizzlers had a great day at the recent Bunnings BBQ in Ballina, raising $1957 – a stunning effort.
Meg Pickup said the takings included $90 in donations.
“It’s the first time we’ve had a donations box,” she said. “The response was more than I expected and the comments about what NRFR does was very positive.
“The overheads were low because the drinks and ice were donated. If we had to pay for these we’d need to add another $200 to the overheads.
“It was a mighty effort in very hot conditions. Anna and Lee helped transport food, drink and equipment to Bunnings and Karin helped transport what remained back to where it needed to be off-loaded.”
The team were so pleased that they are planning more BBQs next year.
